Cod Fish Oil – The #1 Problem With Most Cod Fish Liver Oil Supplements

What you really need to be careful of is overdosing on vitamin A or Vitamin D.  Because of the high amounts of these vitamins in cod fish oil, you can easily go over the recommended dietary allowance of each, especially when you take it in liquid form.

In fact, pregnant women are recommended not to even take it all together because of it’s high vitamin A levels.  They are also concerned with the fact that there are contaminants that are present in most brands.

The key to avoid taking a supplement that contains contaminants like PCBs, dioxins, mercury, arsenic, lead, and other heavy metals is to make sure the oils are purified and molecularly distilled.  These processes, together, remove all traceable amounts of contaminants.

If it’s omega-3 fatty acids you want to get enough of a day (most people only get one-fifth of the amounts they should each day), you should definitely look into getting a quality omega-3 fish oil supplement made with cold, deep water fish like tuna and hoki.
